Colorectal Cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Inspired by our friend/husband/father Jamey Hollingsworth - the HRCR Awareness Fund's mission is to inform and encourage people to take preventative steps against this disease.
In 2022, Jamey Hollingsworth passed away after a brief battle with colorectal cancer. Before passing, Jamey asked his friends and family to take on the challenge of educating and raising awareness of the preventative measures available to people so that they would not travel down the path he was on.
Jamey had waited until he was 50 to get a colonoscopy - what he thought he was supposed to do. Despite being an active, healthy adult, he and his family were told that after the first evaluation of his colonoscopy, Jamey had Stage IV colorectal cancer and was given just 12 months to live. He only got 10.
The mission of the Hollingsworth Colorectal Cancer Awareness Fund is to educate as many people as possible about the need for early detection on what is a treatable disease - but has become the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.
The new age for recommended screenings is 45. Get tested.
